The route, step by step

  1. Collect the rental car at the airport

Pisa Airport (PSA) is small — rental desks are in the arrivals hall, a short walk from baggage claim, with the pickup lots just outside. Budget 20–30 minutes for the paperwork before you're on the road.

  2. Join the SGC (Strada di Grande Comunicazione) toward Lucca

Follow signs for "Lucca" out of the airport approach roads onto the SGC FI-PI-LI / Pisa–Lucca expressway. It's a free, motorway-standard road — no toll booth on this stretch.

  3. Continue onto the A11 if needed

Depending on the exact route your GPS picks, you may briefly join the A11 (Firenze–Mare) before peeling off at the Lucca exits. This section can have a toll — keep a card or a few coins handy for the booth.

  4. Exit toward Lucca and head for the property

Come off at the Lucca exit and follow local roads toward Meati, near Lucca (LU). The last stretch is often narrower country road — take it slow, especially arriving after dark.

Car rental pickup is at the airport

All the major rental desks (and most of the smaller ones) operate directly out of Pisa Airport's arrivals area, so there's no separate shuttle or off-site depot to find. Have your licence, the lead driver's credit card, and your booking confirmation ready.
