Park outside Pisa's ZTL
The streets immediately around Piazza dei Miracoli sit inside a restricted zone. Don't try to drive up to the Tower — head instead for Parcheggio Pietrasantina, the large official car park just north of the monument area (well signposted from the ring road). It's a flat 10–12 minute walk to the Tower, or hop the small shuttle bus that runs from the car park in high season.

Piazza dei Cavalieri
Pisa's elegant secondary piazza, a 10-minute walk from the Tower and usually far quieter — good contrast to the crowds.
Borgo Stretto
Arcaded medieval shopping street through the centre — nice for a wander and people-watching over coffee.
The Lungarni (Arno riverfront)
The pastel-coloured embankments along the Arno — a good early-evening walk, especially around Ponte di Mezzo.
Tuttomondo (Keith Haring mural)
Keith Haring's last public mural, on the back of a church near the train station — a bit of a walk south but worth it if you like street art.
Orto Botanico di Pisa
One of Europe's oldest university botanical gardens, tucked away near the Piazza dei Miracoli crowds.
